Chaplaincy: The Bridge Between Counseling and Coaching

Thursday, October 1
8:30 am – 4:00 pm

Chaplains often serve in unique roles that intersect with counseling and coaching, and incorporate faith across a range of emotional, spiritual, and situational needs. This all-day intensive explores chaplaincy as a distinct discipline that integrates presence-based care with support for personal growth. Participants will examine how chaplains respond to a variety of missional and vocational environments that include correctional settings, underserved communities, and those impacted by grief, loss, and trauma. Evidence-based approaches will identify effective strategies for consistent engagement, long-term resilience and well-being, and how to recognize when to refer to counseling or coaching professionals. Emphasis will be placed on role clarity, ethical considerations, and practical decision-making in diverse caregiving contexts.

Learning Objectives
Participants will:

  1. Describe the distinct role of chaplaincy and how it relates to counseling and coaching within the helping professions.

  2. Identify appropriate care and counsel approaches for individuals who are in crisis, experiencing trauma, come from underserved communities, are incarcerated, or facing recovery and other growth-oriented situations, including when referral is needed.

  3. Explain how chaplains can assess needs, and provide compassionate care and appropriate support, as well as collaborate effectively with counselors and coaches while maintaining clear role boundaries and ethical practice.

If you are registered through the Christian Chaplains and Coaching partnership, your Intensive is included in your registration cost. If not, Intensives are available as a paid add-on.

A Blueprint for Transformation: Neurocience, Spiritual Warfare, Self-Care, Healthy Thinking, and Emotional Regulation
Thursday, October 1
8:30 am – 4:00 pm

Supporting lasting change in clients requires more than tools—it requires a deeper understanding of internal factors, emotional processes, resilience, and patterns of thought and behavior, as well as a faith-based spiritual framework. This all-day intensive introduces a structured five-part model for transformation that integrates neuroscience-informed strategies with practical approaches to emotional and cognitive regulation. Participants will explore how underlying emotional drivers influence behavior, develop strategies for managing stress and secondary trauma, learn how to transform fear bonds to joy bonds, and create an individualized blueprint to support ongoing self-care and self-growth, as well as within various helping contexts.

Learning Objectives
Participants will:

  1. Identify key strategies and a five-part model for building personal resilience and managing stress in helping roles through a faith-based spiritual framework.
  2. Demonstrate neuroscience-informed and practical techniques for supporting emotional and cognitive regulation, addressing fear bonds, and maintaining personal well-being.
  3. Develop an individualized “Blueprint for Transformation” that incorporates resilience practices to support ongoing relational and emotional growth.

If you are registered through the Deeper Walk partnership, your Intensive is included in your registration cost. If not, Intensives are available as a paid add-on.

Healing Happens Together: The Listen Course and the Church Cares Model
Thursday, October 1
8:30 am – 4:00 pm

Our communities are marked by an unprecedented mental health crisis, skyrocketing anxiety, epidemic loneliness, and a deep ache for hope. People are hurting, counselors are often booked, and clergy members are stretched thin–but the church can help. Across the country, far too many people are falling through the cracks. Yet, the local church is uniquely positioned to serve as “first responders” to many of these life challenges. Not with more programs, but with presence, by walking alongside those in need, learning to listen well, and knowing when and how to make a referral for additional or professional care. This all-day intensive provides Level 1 Training and Certification in The Church Cares Model. It includes live demonstrations, peer practice sessions, and is designed to help equip participants with the core competencies of listening, prayer support, and solution development.

Learning Objectives
Participants will:

  1. Be certified with Level 1 knowledge and skills in The Church Cares Model through curriculum engagement, live demonstrations, and peer practice sessions.
  2. Identify the core competencies of listening, prayer support, and solution development.
  3. Demonstrate familiarity with needed resources to build, incorporate, coordinate, and oversee The Church Cares Program for respective congregations.

If you are registered through the Church Cares partnership, your Intensive is included in your registration cost. If not, Intensives are available as a paid add-on.
